Parental Controls – How to Set Limits on Your Children’s Mobile Devices

In this article I am going to show you why using a screen time parental control app on your android device is a very good idea. Most kids, teens and adults today have become addicted to the internet and so it is more common now to see them surfing the web for entertainment purposes. As a parent it can be very frustrating to see your child playing games that you know are extremely violent or even possibly pornographic. It is also very frustrating when your child loses their passwords or logins and is able to access sites that could result in their becoming a victim of identity theft.

To avoid all these issues I downloaded a screen time parental control app for my android device. The main reason I did this was because I was very annoyed at seeing certain apps that allowed my kids to go on the internet freely. I also didn’t want my children to be exposed to everything and anything that could potentially harm them. So I downloaded this particular screen software so that they couldn’t go on these sites.

My biggest concern was that my children weren’t getting enough exercise. Screen time only lasted a couple of hours so I wanted to make sure that they were not playing any games for extended periods of time. Setting up a screen time parental control program with specific apps allowed me to be able to set limits.

You can also set up recurring usage reports. You set up a particular time period and then monitor what applications are being used. The reason this is so effective is because you will be able to tell at a glance which games or programs your kids are playing which might be inappropriate. For example, if your child plays a game that is deemed by the provider to be offensive it will be blacklisted on their phone. If you don’t have a screen time parental control app you won’t be able to tell at a glance which games or applications your children are playing which could be a bigger problem.

In addition to the major iPhone and iPad there are more interesting ios devices such as the Amazon Kindle and the Android Nook. One of the problems I had with these types of devices is that I couldn’t uninstall the screen time application. It was part of their pre-installed software. That meant that the only way to remove it was to delete the app from the device or go through all of the set up procedures again which was tedious and time consuming. Thankfully there are now web based parental controls that are made specifically for the iPhone and iPad.

All of these web based services work in conjunction with each other. You set up individual time limits for different applications. You also have individual screen time limits for each one. Once the time limit has been met you will be alerted by text message or email. Now it’s easier than ever to monitor what your kids are doing on their mobile devices.
